Pink Panther Pinarello

Looks pretty classic, but I'm not a cotton candy pink kind of guy.

Blurb.

Keep in mind I'm not a messenger, I'm a janitor.

But what the fuck is this shit about?

Saturday, September 19, 2009

I still need some collabs, Standard.

SE PK Ripper.

Um... and Standard.

The hotel.

When bikes and hotels are collaborating, I don't know which way is up. A hotel? How does that even... why can.... how is...

I'm just going to stop asking questions, seeming as how I think SE bikes are pieces of shit anyway. Remember that $100 bill colorway?

This is somehow more stupid than that.

But to me, they're just pants.

Outlier is awesome, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather buy four pairs of jeans than one pair of grey pants. Yes, they look awful nice and have some good tech behind them, but sheesh.

They're just pants.
"Uh, why am I homeless? Oh, now I remember... it was the pants."

In other news, ADIDAS broke out on SneakerFreaker with some "fixie" specific shoes, and while I really hate the term "fixie" like, REALLY dislike it, the shoes themselves look quite dope, slimmed down for proper feel and in two really nice colorways.

I'm diggin' the whole workwear tough trending but when you work downtown at a design firm, it's not exactly a fucking railroad. Anyhow, fashion is fashion, and we all look like morons anyway you slice it. That's popular culture. Pushing things forwards inevitably leads you back. Meanwhile I was away in Michigan on a 2 day bike trip around the coast, riding, eating, and drinking. I'll post some of the travel pics later on, as I felt that I just had to rant.

Saturday, September 12, 2009

What fucking day is it?

HUGE straps.

Does it seem like everyone is starting to drop these shits?

Dig the Chubs in the back.

Straight off the internet!

No Cassettes!

This is from the premier of their video on SF, but from the looks of it, it was a bike massacre. No doubt, I would steal. So. Many. Bikes.

I would need a very large truck and a shit ton of PBR. Kids were sick though, all sorts of spinning and maddness so raw, it needed to be spelled with a extra D.

This guy is in awe. What is that? A Cutter?

Even Master Chief showed up.

Other attendees include people with Vans Eras, some douchebags on motorcycles who felt inclined to show these "kids fucking around on bikes" that sometimes, people who suck dick for a living want to feel something between their legs other than a wet vagina... i.e. a motor.

Um, some kid with a laptop, a lot of people with expensive or ridiculous clothing, flat brimmed New Eras... and a least like 6 people with bikes. That's what they call them right?

This is what 800 dollars buys you these days.

Why?

More pics HERE.

F(L)AVOR / Lemme Start A Posse

Check out the Flickr.

In the meantime, the color of this bike has urged me to go buy some bananas.

And not those silly-ass Supra Skytops either. Which also brings me to think, I need some Corporate Collabos on the burner, like, yesterday. Someone get those going.

Droppin'

A veritable rainbow of new saddles from STARFUCKERS. All I can say is Niiiiiiiiice.

As seen on PC:
Some bike porn, uh, this totally looks like a bike a transformer would ride.

In other news now that the move has been finalized I'll be posting more pics of night rides.

Whoa!

DONERI ver.6 from kwast on Vimeo.

Today's special:

Seen @ PEDAL Consumption

So what you can't see, is that she's holding a Katana in the other hand.

Seeing pictures like this make me wonder what drives people to perform tricks like above and others. Not that it's bad, evolution is nice, and even if it's in an obtuse direction. Despite what others may say I think it's a nice step up.
What haven't we tried making Xtreme yet? If it can happen to Doritos it can happen to cycling. Well, technically it's already happened to cycling. Been going on for awhile. Anyhow, when you take a look at people who are stoaked on it like D.A.R.T. rider John "Prolly" he makes a fairly compelling argument in his actions alone that this is a viable, and ridiculously enjoyable sport. It's the Big Boys version of BMX. Faster, sleeker, considerable larger, but so graceful. A fixed gear bike is genuinely a highly responsive machine considering it's histoic past. But youthful innovation. It's wonderful. It seems new products are arriving on the market every other week, and each one better and more durable than the last. Also, at a time like this, even if it's just fucking around on a bike for fun, you eventually respect it as a means of transportation, and the love grows from there.

For me, I don't think it matters what "culture" that you subscribe to, as long as you ride, and you ride well and treat others with respect, it doesn't matter. I don't necessarily consider myself to be a Hipster, for one, I hate cocaine, and indie bands? Suck my dick. I listen to hip hop son. Well, okay, considering there is so called "Hipsterhop" type people, whatever the plural is of that, I still wouldn't say I could come close, although I enjoy the aesthetic of streetwear designs and I follow certain brands, but I can't afford that, and why bother? I'm too busy enjoying my bike than believing the gear can make the man. It's experience. Don't get riled up though, it's not like I'm busting tricks off five sets either. I'm just riding. I enjoy it. I like going fast when I can. But I don't act like an asshole or a child either. Challenges are challenges. Riding every day if I can, doesn't matter if its just the 7-11 or a thirty mile trek to the river. Point is, I do it, and I don't try to make it a point to show off, I just do what I do, and thats it.

So why hate? What's the point? Satisfaction from some notion of Schadenfruede when they bite it? I'll admit, sometimes, naturally humorous, but look at the long forum of hate it started. What the fuck!? It's mind boggling. Anyhow, now that I've blathered on enough about whatever it was I started about in the first place. Let's thank all those who participated, and now if you'll excuse me, I have to eat the shit out of some peach mini muffins.

I don't even know what I just said.

Thanks to Ikuma Otsubo

Combining pleasure with pleasure.

As seen on Failblog.org

What is the fascination with dicks? I'm sure this guy's hardcore rating went through the roof. His balls-to-the-wall attitude only left him with dicks on his grips.

Also, remember the Gundam post awhile back? Someone over at No Brake was kind enough to do us all a solid and represent.

FUCK YO COUCH!

Bountiful Delights

First thangz first. Ateliers d'Embellie Porteur bike. Really not too bad. NOS parts, handmade. The frame is nice, I'd need this in 30 years maybe.

Also, Prolly's all up in the NY Times.

In Asia you can name a company fucking ANYTHING and it will be awesome.

VAGX? Yeah... they make bags. So what?

But... VAGX?

Just another reminder I need to live in the far east by any means necessary.

This guy knows whats up.

In other news but along the same vein Chari & Co. posted this vintage Masi, and since it's what I ride and I see all the news that's fit to pop on the internet machine, enjoy:

More of the Bassboat....

So this is what they look like on a real live bike.... and I'm staunch in my opposition. Since when do bikes need to trick fish? This has Disco written all over it.

Seen on Fixedgeargallery

Hold Fast straps

Go to their website if ya want 'em!

From what Prolly is saying, these are the shit! As a rider whose setup cannot tolerate toe clips and therefore straps, I could really get on a pair of these. They're really more for fixed freestyle riding but my frame is bent just so much that I can't operate with regular clips, these would help a lot! I do miss my straps....

Hublot x BMC = boring ass bike.

So I've seen a lot of this today... and I'm bored to death by it.

The King of Pop is dead... so... here's a toast.

Snagged from FAILblog.

This ever happen to you?

Bassboat Effect?

Bassboat from Matt Ruiter on Vimeo.

Meh. If I've learned anything, it's to keep it simple.

Belt Drive Single Speed

Saw this nice little number on Fixed Gear Gallery earlier, thought it was worth some hubub, if that's even how it's spelled. I was contemplating the possibility of a belt drive in lieu of a chain on a fixed gear bike just the other day so it's fitting that fate shoves this series of images in my face.

Also, Vans Japan has teamed up with Fuji to release this perfectly matching bag and bike set for all you magnificent monochromatic divas.

It's okay, could have went without the copious amount of brakes, any possibly a little less "up to date" trend wise. Getting a little tired to see riser bars on everything, but I get the idea. Marketing in action. Whatever. See the bag and other images HERE.

see ya.

Coffin.

This is definitely my next tattoo. Maybe variations.

This is what I meant by world culture

A life-size Gundam RX-78!

Nearly sixty feet tall, boasting a movable head and unlimited jaw dropping amazingness. Now if only there could be a way to make it come to life Ghostbusters style... but in a good "hey I just got you an ice cream sandwich" way and not a "I just stepped in gum and now I have a voodoo curse on my family" way.

I bet the head moves in a way to convey the "No Dice" attitude (or to better aim it's twin mounted vulcan cannons. Shit yeah I know the specs.)

Biz as usual

Nothing too hot today besides the weather.

Whoops.

Look at this.

That's all I got to say besides I was clockin' 30mph the other day on some rough ass street with potholes the size of Mini Coopers.

Peeped this @ SUPER MAKURI blog.

I want this so badddd....... Can't get enough, THIS too....

Hmmmmmmmm..... Nice.

Seen on: Mobiuscycle's Flickr

I stumbled on this image posted on Flickr and just had to put this bike up. It's pretty rad, but I wonder if those rims use similar tech like the Velocity "Elvis" rims do......

Milwaukee Bike Co. BRUISER s700

The new Bruiser 700 frameset from Milwaukee Bike Co.

This thing looks like it can take a beating, check the reinforced headtube just at the neck, and those forks (sold separately) are CNC'd one piece monsters. You're probably going to be seeing sick videos of folks tearing shit up on these babies if you aren't already now. Check out http://www.prollyisnotprobably.com for more kooky fixed shit.

A nice relaxed saturday ride through some towns

We hit the road cutting through town because the local trail is a bit soggy from a monster storm and suffice it to say, riding on the road is so much more fun.

Amanda in the neighborhood.

We finally got back on the trail one town over where it wasn't so bad and rode on to our destination in the next town. Amanda snapped some nice pics on the way there

And we managed to make it to our destination for an ice cold drink at our favorite cafe, the iced green tea smoothie was bitchin', but I fear that all the iced green teas in the world aren't going to cool us down come monday... first 90 degree day of the year for Illinois.......

Catch ya later! Fittin' ta post some nice frames later on if I get the chance.......
